About Our Founder
The founder of our foundation is Shawntai Johnson. The idea to start our organization came to Ms. Johnson on an early November morning in 2005. On that morning, the Holy Spirit spoke to her about starting a nonprofit organization to help people in need. She was reassured about the idea after watching a sermon given by Pastor Paula White on the Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN) station. Ms. Johnson knew then that God was going to great lengths to help her hear his message.
Starting out with just "a mustard seed of faith," Ms. Johnson prayed to God for our foundation's name. The Lord led her to John 14:6. This scripture states, "Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."
Forming a Faith-Based Charity
The next year, on March 3, 2006, Ms. Johnson established I Am the Way, the Truth and Life Charity Foundation. As the president and executive officer of our charity, she aims to help people who are in need of shelter, food, clothing, counseling, and other services. She also continues to trust in the Lord. Her faith is growing every day, which helps her elevate our organization to higher levels.
Giving God the Praise
Ms. Johnson thanks God for all that He has done. The scripture that expresses how she feels is Philippians 4:13. It states, "I can do all things through Christ who gives us strength."
